The Centre of Geophysical Monitoring of the National Academy of Science of Belarus is in prompt interaction with the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus (Republican Centre for Emergency Situation Management and Reaction), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection of the Republic of Belarus and other departments concerned with problems of natural hazards and mitigation of their consequences.

A brief review of data obtained is annually sent to the Main Information and Analytical Centre of the National Environment Monitoring System of the Republic of Belarus.

Results of seismic monitoring in the mining and industrial region of the Starobin potassium salt deposit are transmitted at regular intervals to the “Belaruskaliy” Mining Department as a Catalogue of seismic events and a Map of epicenters. This information is used for forecasting the geodynamic activation in the deposit region, as well as for planning future mining works.

At present the Centre is engaged in research for assessment of seismic conditions and estimation of seismic hazards in regions where the construction of a nuclear power plant is envisaged in the territory of Belarus.

The Centre can supply the information on the geomagnetic conditions on request of interested organizations.

The Centre cooperates with media of communication. Numerous articles and interviews were published in Belarusian newspapers and periodicals, a number of lectures was given over the radio and TV.

The Centre also cooperates with various scientific and research institutions of the National Academy of Science of Belarus and educational institutions such as the Belarussian State University, Polotsk State University and others.
